A problem many gardeners encounter is that they have a lovely spring garden then the colour and excitement fades. This is certainly true if you do not like growing annual bedding plants. There is no need to be accepting of this. Add a few summer and autumn flowering favourites and extend the colour all the way through the warmer months of the year:

·         Hebe: Masses of cone-shaped blooms

·         Dahlia: A cottage garden classic which flowers well into autumn

·         Buddleja: Great bee and butterfly attracting blooms

·         Hydrangea: Amazing long-lasting blooms for the summer and autumn months

·         Rudbeckia: Great splashes of yellow flowers in the autumn

·         Verbena: Tall branching stems that bear lilac-purple clusters of flowers

·         English Lavender: A treat for the eyes and nose

·         Lavatera: Flowering into September it offers an abundance of two inch wide flowers

·         Philadelphus: It showcases highly fragrant orange scented white blooms adored by bees

·         Herbaceous Sedum: With its spectacular large flowers it is the king of the autumn perennial border!
